After seeing the Ireland-Bolivia friendly at Gillette and about 12 hours before heading down to New Haven, Sean and I saw the Rosebuds Saturday night at Great Scott. The show was a small one, probably slightly less packed than it could have been since so many people are out of town for Memorial Day, but it was a really fun time. Husband-wife duo Ivan and Kelly put on a great show, ending the gig by coming down into the audience to play a couple tracks acoustically with the crowd singing along. On CD the new album is far more synth-driven than anything they've done before, but performed live the difference isn't quite as noticeable. I've been falling behind on music, so here are worthwhile links to other blogs' posts:
- MOKB provides the jinky electropop of Uffie's "First Love" and another cool Ghostface mashup, this time featuring the new Spoon song.
- GvB offers a new Sound Team song, this one a pretty chill, mostly instrumental track.
- Torr mentions the track "16" by The Flaws. He also made mention of The Orange Lights, whose first single you can find here.
- Neile's Life links a couple good tracks by Swedish duo The Tough Alliance, who make calypso-tinged electropop that reminds me a bit of The Knife before they got really weird.
