Hello, Cleveland!

Oh my. The trailer for the Will Ferrell/Jon Heder figure skating movie is out...and wow, this could be good. Note Amy Poehler and Will Arnett featuring as rival skaters.

Thoughts from the season premier of 24:

- If the tall, googley-eyed CTU guy who took an order without any saying any lines looked familiar, it was Stephen Merchant, the co-creator of the original BBC "The Office." Here he is winning the British Comedy Actor of the Year award (or something).
- Kal Penn (aka the Indian guy from Harold Kumar, aka the only Indian guy allowed to play semi-major roles in movies) is unfortunately a shitty dramatic actor. Which is disappointing, given he has a monopoly on token Indian guy roles, and now is also taking roles as the token Muslim kid.
- For the second straight year, they found the perfect guy to play the incredibly obnoxious, unlikable bureaucrat dude. In other words, an annoying guy who meddles with the good guys without being a real bad guy, but you know that eventually he's going to get much worse.
- Is there any other character outside of Jack Bauer that you can root for as he bites a guy in the neck and kills him by tearing his artery open?

This NYT article titled "Want an iPhone? Beware the iHandcuffs" really has very little to do with iPhones, but it's still a good read on how copyright protection on digital music might change for the better.
