Ratatat's new album Classics comes out August 22nd and the early signs are very promising. Lead single "Wildcat" manages to overcome its comical cat roar sample, while "Lex" is vintage Ratatat and "Swisha" throws some acoustic guitar in for good measure. They will be in Boston on September 6th. Head over to disco-not-disco for all three songs.

So I think this is a somewhat accurate synopsis: Simian Mobile Disco made a song called "Never Be Alone" a few years ago which was then reworked by Parisian duo Justice. Over the course of a few years it became quite popular, though I fully admit to missing the boat until Mulley mentioned it to me. Then the record company decided "We Are Your Friends" was a better name, and since it hadn't been released widely they might, you know, do that. So now this song is still popping up. And it's weird and electro and bass-y and dance-y and very good. Download the original and equally as good Cabrera remixes right over here.
I especially like the concept for the video:

I have liked Paul Rudd since his turn as camp stud (kinda) Andy in Wet Hot American Summer; the fact that he keeps turning up in good flicks also helps. His next flick is The Oh in Ohio.

I'm just going to start posting random State clips. Here's "Taco Mail":
