Hello, Cleveland!

We're calling this the Danger Mouse post...

Cee-Lo and Danger Mouse: They think the carpet-pissers did this?

Gnarls Barkley's "Crazy" has been floating around for months now and if I've learned one thing it's that every person on earth seems to love that song. Even Mulley says so. Last week the single became the first to go #1 in the UK as a digital-only release. Gnarls are Cee-Lo on vocals and Danger Mouse aka Brian Burton behind the decks, and like most things DM works on these days, it's not the easiest stuff to pin down, so it's exactly what you would expect from the guy that brought us the mashup to begin and end all mashups, the Beatles-meets-Jay-Z Grey Album (download for free here.

Then he teamed up with Damon Albarn on the latest Gorillaz disc, which is somewhat fitting since both Gnarls and Gorillaz are genre-hopping concept projects, based at least partially on fictional band members. Hey, whatever works. Trading Cee-Lo for Damon Albarn, Gnarls has much more of a soul/hip-hop bent, but I'd still put money on it being this year's indie/hip-hop crossover. Downloading much of the album over the last week I was pleasantly surprised at the song-to-song consistency. Go to KNK for "Just a Thought". Gnarls begin touring this spring and will have a full backing band, including Beck bassist Justin Meldal-Johnsen.

Another (partial) Danger Mouse production is the forthcoming Rapture LP, the first song of which has now been leaked. "W.A.Y.U.H." was produced by Ewan Pearson and Paul Epworth. The good people at Universal have been on seek+destroy taking it off every place it's posted, so if you want it just holla and we can meet at the statue by the river at midnight.

And lastly Danger Mouse will be adding his production skills to the next Sparklehorse LP, which has been in the works for, what, five years now? Anyway, definitely not a combination I would have expected, but I'm happy if Mark Linkous puts anything out.

Ever wonder where Tyrone Biggums came from? Well, WAY back in the day the Dana Carvey Show had a pretty ridiculous cast of writers: Carvey, Louie CK, Robert Smigel, Chappelle, Stephen Colbert, Steve Carell, and Charlie Kaufman. Check out this clip of Crazy Buddies...now you know where Tyrone's outfit had its inspiration.

The unsexist men in the world. Gotta suck when Osama Bin Laden is considered sexier than you.

A great concept for a website: Hot Chicks with Douchebags.
