Hello, Cleveland!

A while back Bliss Pop posted an Every Move a Picture song, and now the San Francisco band are cycling stuff from their forthcoming debut album through their MySpace page. You can also download another song there:

Every Move a Picture / "Signs of Life"

They have a pretty straight-forward Gang of Four vs. Clash sound. Easy to like and dance to, which is probably why they are already on V2. Reminds me a little of the Bravery as well, who also went straight to Island rather than dick around building up cred at an indie. Though I don't think they're as obnoxious as the Bravery.

So this I'm really excited about...hints of what the next Rapture album will sound like. First check out a short video made about their show last fall at Crash Mansion. You hear clips of three songs in there; while the vocals from the first clip sounds familiar it's not Luke or Mattie from the Rapture, but the last two clips are definitely Luke. I'm not sure why the first clip wouldn't also be something from them, but whatever. It all sounds pretty damn cool to me.

British indie-something-or-others Hot Chip have a handful of cool songs from their 04/05 release Coming on Strong. Hard to describe except they have a lot of guys who appear to play keyboards...picture the talent show scene from Revenge of the Nerds. Their sound is light on guitar, and heavy on rinky-dink beats (kinda like Kid A vintage Radiohead or Daft Punk's "Veridis Quo") and muted (but very good) vocals. They've been signed by ex-Rapture producers DFA, so check out the weirdness in a video for their new song "Over and Over"

Hot Chip are dorks

Unlike most of DFA's other bands, which range from interesting (LCDSS) to fucking retarded (Black Dice), Hot Chip have a softer, chiller side that brings out their best moments. I picked up Coming on Strong today and it's not totally my thing, but it works. Below is easily the best song on the album, and it's a good one (sorry Kev for the degradation of fine Kraft products).
