Sweet BRMC show at Avalon on Friday night. They played a very similar setlist to the show last fall, with almost all of Howl in addition to old favorites from the first two albums. Songs like "White Palms" and "Spread Your Love" never really impressed me that much on recording, but live they're pretty awesome. Peter Taylor and Robert Been have great live voices as well, so in sum it makes for a great (and loud) show.
Elefant opened but didn't make a compelling case to purchase their forthcoming album. Diego Garcia is still far too good-looking to be an indie rock type, but he's also kind of a cheeseball in terms of his fan interactions. During their set there were two people with cameras walking around, one of them with a huge light as well, and they would constantly stick their camera in our faces. I really don't feel like being in an Elefant concert clip, so I did my best to look unenthusiastic.
Australia's Morning After Girls were the first band, toiling away in front of a scant crowd beginning at 6 pm due to Avalon's obnoxious "we have to have the club open by 10 pm" policy. They had a definite Brian Jonestown Massacre quality, which made a little sense since BRMC's Peter Hayes actually played in BJM for a short period.

Will Ferrell has another vaguely serious role in Winter Passing, this time reteaming with Elf co-star Zooey Deschanel. Mixed reviews though...
Speaking of Will, check out the awesome cast of Blades of Glory.
