I saw The Squid and the Whale and REALLY liked it. Noah Baumbach (The Life Aquatic) wrote and directed this semi-autobiographical story of two boys whose parents separate in 1986 Park Slope, Brooklyn. Jeff Daniels and Laura Linney are both excellent as intellectuals who also happen to be mediocre parents, and Billy Baldwin has an amusing "remember me?" role as the younger son's chilled out tennis instructor (kind of Richie Tenenbaum-esque). It's a drama but frequently broken with high brow humor (or high brow-mocking). Worth a look if you can find it.
