Wilco's first ever live album Kicking Television comes out November 15. I've seen Wilco six times and they stand out from most other bands I see: they're older, the fans tend to be older, some of their older stuff is pretty countrified, and the venues tend to be reserved seating. But most importantly they're a fantastic live band, so the new disc will be a Tuesday purchase for me. Not that there's a lack of live bootleg's lying around...check out one from 2004 here. My two personal faves:
Wilco / "At Least That's What You Said"
This song's interesting because the album version actually starts off too quietly in my opinion, as you can barely hear Jeff Tweedy whispering the opening lines. But after the opening two minutes it goes into an all-out jam, the guitar solo of which is probably my favorite Wilco live moment.
Wilco / "Spiders (Kidsmoke)"
I know when the album first came out this song in many ways seemed kind of symbolic of what many people didn't like about the new Wilco--way too long, repetitive, and in general musically masturbatory. But I really began to like it after seeing it live because it really builds to the climax of the show. It bears mentioning that I've heard this song referred to as having a Krautrock influence to it, though I'd be lying if I really understood what that meant.

For some reason I feel compelled to link to a compilation of stuff that Ronaldinho did in last weekend's game against Osasuna. Gotta love the cheesy R&B music too.
I get to see most Barca games on GolTV, but this one was even more impressive than usual, even though he didn't even score. For more magic, check this.
