When Antics came out last year I admit to initially saying I thought it was better than Turn on the Bright Lights. Anyway, I was wrong...I slightly overestimated Antics and massively underestimated Turn on the Bright Lights, which I still listen to all the time even today. Which says a lot, because I have no patience with music...I always am looking for new stuff to replace the old. I don't even listen to my favorite bands much unless they've released something recently (hello, Radiohead).
But the point is that while I still love the new Broken Social Scene disc I am also now appreciating You Forgot it in People all the more. They were great when we saw them two weeks ago, so that doesn't hurt either. Anyway, a couple of my old favorites:
Broken Social Scene / "Pacific Theme"
One of my favorite instrumentals, it's just got this very chill feel to it even though there's a lot going on. The organs, bass, and horns have a very warm feel.
Broken Social Scene / "Cause = Time"
I'd put this song just behind "Almost Crimes" as the best rock-out song on the album.

The Name of the Year exists to recognize the greatest names of real people. Check out the Hall of Name and this year's ballot and vote for your favorites. The Dmochowsky-approved Bushrod Washington made this year's ballot as well!
Actually, the reason I found this site in the first place is because there's a Sloan MBA candidate whose resume happend to be floating around the office. His name: Nimrod Weiselfish. He won Name of the Year in 2000 and was elected to the Hall of Name in 2002.

A lot of bands I like sound a lot like Gang of Four did twenty years ago, but I can't say I have any interest in actually owning a Gang of Four album. Entertainment is mildly enjoyable to listen to, but significant as it may be, significance alone doesn't make me enjoy it. I just don't have the context of having heard it a long time ago to really appreciate it, but it's not to say there isn't some really good stuff out there. Go4 recently released a new CD of re-recorded old stuff and some remixes as well. Normally I think remixes are pretty lame but this one is pretty good, by way of Banana Nutriment:
Gang of Four / To Hell With Poverty (Remix)

I'm digging the new Caesars' song, "It's Not the Fall."

A beacon of hope for all Asians who used to live in New Jersey that aspire to get a license (ahem, Rosa).
Because Ray's Jersey license expired during college he actually had to take another road test last Friday. Luckily I was there to play Daddy, accompanying young Ray to the testing station and sitting in the backseat while Ray was put through the paces. Since Ray had previously passed a driver's test the cop only made us drive around the block. I didn't feel like pushing the issue and asking for a photo of him and Ray, so I settled for the above pic.

Yeah, I'm kind of at a loss on explaining this picture.
