Hello, Cleveland!

Paul Thomson steps out to play some guitar as Alex Kapranos does his thing.

Saw Franz Ferdinand for the third time last Saturday and it was as good of a show as I have come to expect...which is pretty fucking great. Highlight of the show was definitely "Outsiders," which is also my favorite song off the new album. They did an extended version of it, by the end of which two guys from the crew had come on stage to bang away on drums with Paul Thomson. Mind you I'm staunchly opposed to lead singers who don't play instruments and then half-assedly start aiding the drummer, but these guys (one of whom played drums on "Walk Away" while Paul played guitar) really pulled it off, mainly because it sounded awesome.

As mentioned previously, I waited until Cut Copy had been confirmed as support before pulling the trigger on tickets, this time fourth row center seats at the Orpheum. We got there a little late, probably missing about 10 minutes of Cut Copy's set, but got there just as the "That Was Just a Dream" / "Zap Zap" sequence was starting, which is good because that's my favorite part of the album. Anyway, we got up and shimmied around a little because Cut Copy are way too fucking good to have a bunch of people sitting lamely around as they rock out.

Sons and Daughters were next and while they're good I couldn't get behind them like I did the bookends of the show. They have a very good rhythm section, so every song starts out like it's going to be really good but then doesn't quite go as far as it needs to.

My favorite new show of the season, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, deservedly got picked up for another season on FX. Huzzah!

Cool story about rural Oregon (wait for it), where a rich guy set up a massive Wi-Fi network that's free for the public. But it ain't just for internet, bitches...

Beirut/beer pong becomes a national phenomenon.

Hey, beer man! Slate takes a look at the inner world of stadium concessions.

This is great...it's Harriet Miers' blog. Start with the "Miers-Briggs" and "OMG Baby Fever!!!" posts and go from there...

I'm loving this week's the Onion's "What Do You Think?" deals even more than usual.

Check out pictures of some NBA wives and girlfriends: part 1, part 2, part 3. The ugliest wife award probably goes to Allen Iverson, who I hope is getting plenty of action on the side. AI's wife looks kind of like that Rachel Dratch character from SNL, you know the one who's always drooling and has the baby arm growing out of her head. Though if Damon Jones is actually married to WNBA player Tina Thompson (YIKES!) then he probably runs away with it.
