Hello, Cleveland!

[ 5.07.2005 ]

If you haven't heard Coldplay's wussy, shit sandwich new song "Speed of Sound," you can download the single and album versions right here. There's also an mp3 labeled "coldplay sucks" in the directory which overlays the piano parts from this song and "Clocks." Same pace and progression.

Not that Chris Martin and co. were ever a bunch of tough guys, but this song is just...the sound of being a wimp married to a movie star. So lame. "Talk" (the only other new song I've heard) is much better at least. X&Y drops (and begins selling a sickening number of copies) in June.

Article about the problems cropping up during the filming of the third season of Chappelle's Show. Originally slated to return in February, the third season was delayed again from its May 31 scheduled premiere.

I don't think a Korean guy escaping from black savages by conjuring up fried chicken would go over as well in America.

Posted something about this before, but the long trailer for Wedding Crashers is up.

Songs of the day:

U2 / Stay (Far Away, So Close!)
I don't have an official top 20 favorite songs or anything but if I did this would probably rank two or three. Fact: the video for this song is directed by Wim Wenders (who's huge in Germany) and in additon to its appearance on the underrated Zooropa it's the title track for Wenders' film In Weiter Ferne, so Nah!. However, the b&w video is actually a take off of Wenders' 1987 film Der Himmel über Berlin, which was then adapted into the Nicolas Cage/Meg Ryan flick, City of Angels. They also did the title track for Wenders' Bis ans Ende der Welt (Until the End of the World).

The Flaming Lips / Do You Realize?
It might be a little heavy-handed, but this is probably the most memorable track off the brilliant Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots. It also features one of my favorite lyrics: "You realize the sun doesn't go down / It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round."

Four Tet / As Serious As Your Life
Pretty cool instrumental track from the guy known as Four Tet. Simple guitar riff looped over beats and electronics. Word.

If you're one of my Mequon peeps, you know how much this hurts: the official end of Regatta 2.

They can tear down the building, but they can't tear down the high-jinks Al, Kev and I got up to. I still don't know how I once bowled a 194 (can't touch Allen and his Kevin-handicapped 216 or whatever though).
