So I'm all about converting people to the light side of music, and Carly actually bought the Elefant cd which I am pleased about. Which in turn inspired me to listen to the album a little bit after not giving it much thought for about six months. And which further inspired me to find some more elefant stuff on the web for you to download. Here's my fave song off the album, "Bokkie."
And even if you don't live in Chicago, travel there to see the comedy show Carly helped write: "Naughty by Nurture," Fridays March 11 thru April 8 at 10:30pm at Donny’s Skybox Theatre (upstairs from Second City on the corner of North & Wells in Chicago). Way to be, Carly.

Coldplay's album will be coming out sometime around summer (I think, I'm too lazy to 2x check this), but in the meantime the new song "Talk" has been leaked and it's very good. Go here and click on "hier" (it's a Dutch page). The song kind of craps out after 4 minutes but most of it is there.
I'm kind of conflicted about Coldplay because I definitely got annoyed with their popularity; it would have been OK if "The Scientist" or "A Rush of Blood to the Head" had been the song to put them over the top, but "Clocks"? I fucking hate that song. This new one has a riff based on Kraftwerk's "Computer Love," yet it's very good. Coldplay is the new U2, and I'm not saying that as a compliment per se.

Decent song by a young Brit band named Battle...angular (my fave music adjective btw) guitars, rapid drums, punk urgency, no where near as good as Bloc Party.
Battle / "Tendency"

More stuff from Bliss Pop to peep:
New Order / "Krafty"
I'm a big New Order fan but there's just something kind of wussy about this. Not bad, but...
Stars / "Ageless Beauty"
Stars are a Canadian collective which includes members of Broken Social Scene. Fact: if you're a Canadian band, you're seven times more likely to be referred to as a "collective." This is a nice little pop song, by which I mean it's not infectious enough to actually be popular but in the world of indie rock where this is about as pretty and poppy as it gets, people will be jerking each other off calling this a "pop" song. I like it a lot. The name Stars is annoying though because looking them up on the web is a bitch and a half.

I'm sick and tired of every fucking ESPN person referring to a team's tournament "resume" when they describe their chances of making it to the tournament. It's a newly-discovered word for basketball people...but enough already.
