Hello, Cleveland!

[ 2.12.2005 ]

So Al was telling me that he was trying to improve his break-dancing skills out in Cali, though I'm not sure if he can pull of some shit like this. I think most people (like the Pope) respect break-dancing because it's hard as fuck, but just about a month ago I was talking to a couple unnamed people who thought it was lame. What the fuck? Unless you can actually break dance yourself (which you can't), don't talk shit.

Holla at your boy!

I am very concerned.

Remember Gorillaz? Well they're coming back. I guess releasing a song named "Dirty Harry" after hitting it big with one named "Clint Eastwood" only makes sense.

******

Pretty schnazzy little song--"Dead Disco" by Metric.

******

People still bitch and moan about SNL, but I think the shit's still funny.

Cut Copy's "Going Nowhere" was one of my fave songs of '04, and while I don't have anything new from them per se, their label Modular People have posted a long-ass mix ostensibly put together by CC. It's pretty good for throwing on and just letting loose to...because it's really long.

At first I thought it was a mix of Cut Copy songs, but then I heard Pharrell from N.E.R.D...a couple minutes into the mix, the DFA remix of N.E.R.D.'s "She Wants to Move," comes on, which is good because it's fucking hot. It also features Pharrell dropping the sweet line, "Your ass is a spaceship that I want to ride."

You may have heard some of the buzz surrounding Joanna Newsom. Well she's included in NME's list of hot shit for '05. This is the first time I've heard her, and from listening to her sing I can only conclude she's an eight year-old retarded girl. So yeah, you could say I'm sold...

This is also a good chance to hear some of the sound-alike shit-rock bands in England right now. I found this hoping to hear if The Rakes, Art Brut, and Nine Black Alps were worth the hype, and my answer based on this is a resounding no. But maybe I'll be proven wrong in time.

******

Does the world need a band like The Departure? Probably not. But they're here. And their song is pretty good.

******

The Bravery's video for "Honest Mistake" is cool. Which is good, because it's a fantastic song.

Barry Sanders has always been my boy, so I was never an Emmitt Smith fan. I found this to be a pretty cool article about Emmitt's retirement.
