Believe it or not, other people actually read this besides you. And sometimes they tell me about stuff:

extremely amusing, all the more so when you know people who want to be lawyers but you are not one of them. note bene: Rosa sent me this NYT article which sheds a whole lot more light on the origin of "A.L."

go to the beginning and read chronologically...I'm not sure if this is more amusing if you know what he's talking about or if you're more of a clueless gentile (such as myself).

People (even ones I know) seem to like the Arcade Fire. So here's the entire concert I saw a couple months back, in relatively decent sound quality from this kid who records a lot of shows. His name is Bradley.
Also, here's a better version of their Talking Heads cover.

If you like Interpol, then you would love seeing Interpol live, and you might like listening to mp3s of Interpol playing live. I love "Narc"...

I think I've mentioned Butterfly Boucher a couple times in this space, but I checked in on her webpage last night and I think I have a download for you to check out. This is the radio mix of her song "I Can't Make Me," which is a catchy little guitar pop chick song. She's your basic singer-songwriter type except she makes rock music. So if you like Liz Phair (post-sell out), you'd prolly like Butterfly.
So I just tested it and you can't DL it without signing up for her fucking email newsletter. Sorry. If you're a guy, don't bother, but ladies, you might like it.

Her name is Butterfly Boucher, and she's surrounded by...yeah.

While I'm on good female musicians, here are two terrific songs by Aimee Mann that I found sitting around in an internet directory:
Long Shot - from her second album, I'm With Stupid. I bought this album in college after seeing Magnolia freshman year, and this album hooked me on her. Intelligent guitar rock, with somewhat surprising vulgarity. Indeed!
Save Me - The song which did NOT win an Oscar (Phil Fucking Collins and his Disney bullshit did...what the fuck?). A beautiful song even if you've never seen or cared for Magnolia, but even better if you did like it.

If I wasn't lazy I would post my top 10 albums of 2004 (in my extremely biased and greatly underinformed opinion). I'd also like to do my top 10 (or more) songs, and this would definitely be one: "Hello? Is This Thing On?" !!!'s Louden Up Now would probably be in my top five or six albums if they didn't dick around so much. That will be apparent when you listen to this song, which I admit was also linked a few months ago, but has such a phat bass that I had to put it back up. Sorry.
