Hello, Cleveland!

I like it It's got that '70s French film feel, no? They've got a some good songs for DL at The Alt, so just go there.

So I scored free tix to the MTV2$Bill Killers/Secret Machines show, thinking that I already had tickets to it (via Nina). But it turned out that was the October show, so I unwittingly got myself tickets to a show I didn't know about. Hoo-rah!

It was a good show, and cool to see everyone singing along and shit to Killers' songs (as opposed to the Stellastarr* opening gig I saw them at in April, when people didn't know who they were). And Secret Machines are a pretty money opening act (not surprising since MTV is trying to shove them down our throats as well). They just don't have enough hooks though...I like them, but to be honest I found their live set tiring compared to the Killers. They're more of a mood band as well, and I guess because of the taping they had to use more lighting than when I saw them in June at TT's (you can tell from pictures I took it was pretty dark), which actually took a little away from it I think. Well whatever. Maybe I just got sick of them a little.

I have no pictures because photography wasn't allowed (along with all white t-shirts and logo apparel, said MTV). Anyway, I didn't see the broadcast on MTV but they have some stuff here. Having been at the live show, it's interesting hearing the soundboard performance because it makes the crowd seem non-existent (until they pipe them in at the end of songs). Gayest outfit award definitely goes to guitarist Dave Keuning, who wore a gray blazer, no shirt, and a silk scarf tied in a knot. These are the things you get away with when you're a musician.

My co-worker Tara, who is cool but who I don't normally talk to music about, shoved Butterfly Boucher's Flutterbyin my face last week. It's very good...like a combination of all the female artists I like--a little of Liz Phair, a little of Dido, a little of Aimee Mann even. Anyway, very much worth a listen. And yes, her real name is apparently Butterfly. The best songs are "I Can't Make Me," "Life is Short," and "A Walk Outside."

So I'm watching tv and while flipping through channels I catch the tail end of a commercial for ionized bracelets. The people are all saying how great they are, especially for sports and things and I can't figure it out. So I go to the website, www.qray.com and think that should certainly provide an answer. Nope. FAQ? They've got one, but nope, no answers there. Every fucking testimonial is vague as hell. So finally I just googled "ionized bracelet" and found this.

Fucking frauds.
