OK, so it's been a little while. In that span...

Kevin, Hash Browns and Myself show that we still got the love.
Wisconsin was fun even though Summerfest is no longer much of a draw. I put pics in the "La Vie" folder. The fam and I went to Whistling Straits for lunch which was nice; they're having the PGA Championship there in another month or so. On Sunday I saw Jet with Allen, Carly and Allison, but it was tough to give a shit from the compromised vantage point we had. And so it goes. I'm going back at the end of the month for Mitch's wedding. Jesus...I have friends getting married...there goes the fucking neighborhood.

Interpol's second album, Antics, comes out September 28, but it's already been leaked. It is EXCELLENT. I think it's more a enjoyable listen to than Turn on the Bright Lights, and while there's still a healthy dose of dark and brooding stuff on the new disc, it definitely has a poppier edge. Paul Banks' vocals seem to be smoother and *slightly* less monotonish. Of the poppier tracks, "Evil" and "C'mere" are great, but my three favorite are "Narc," "Take You on a Cruise," and "Slow Hands." The latter isn't particularly sunny, but it's got the most danceable rhythm section yet to be heard from Interpol (insert Franz Ferdinand comment here), and a killer chorus...which is kind of a theme...this album has terrific, powerful choruses. After the relatively breezey opening two tracks, "Narc" and "Take You on a Cruise" are Interpol's way of reclaiming their darker brilliance. I can't wait to hear this album in its proper multichannel glory.

Louie CK has done some nice stuff with his web page. First, he's uploaded video from his first Leno appearance (a lot of the older stuff, including the $5 in the bank bit), as well as a longer clip from the Improv that has newer stuff. For some reason the first bit of it isn't as funny as when he did some of the stuff live that I saw, but then it gets really good when he starts talking about his kid. He also mentions coming out with a new double CD/DVD type thing, which would be awesome. He also now has a properly functioning message board that he posts frequently to.

A couple of software changes for my computer. Finally took Foon's advice and downloaded Mozilla's webbrowser, Firefox. Not sure what the practical difference is at this point in terms of surfing the web, but no complaints either. I guess my computer is now less likely to be compromised by evil or something. I also switched from Kazaa Lite to Soulseek based on the fact that I couldn't download any of the Interpol songs from Kazaa Lite, despite the fact that searching for them brought up tons of hits. I'd read about Soulseek before and then Nina said the album was on there, so there ya go.

The New York Times delivers the goods: all about the amazing new Porsche 911, and even cooler, all about Sacha Baron Cohen aka Ali G/Borat/Bruno (above). He's been making his rounds (Letterman and Daily Show as himself, Conan as a hyper Borat) in preparation for the return of Da Ali G show this Sunday, and apparently decided that appearing as himself was finally the thing to do. Keep in mind he never did this even in Britain, so it's interesting he's now doing all these out-of-character interviews.

The Rapture's "The Rapture is Live and, well, in New York City" comes out on DVD on Tuesday. Here's the preview page...check out Gabe's dancing (and Luke's tone-deafness) on "House of Jealous Lovers."

I'm trying out Blogger's own comment feature, so all the old comments are gone. Then again, the only people who ever used it were Foon and the occasional passer-by who I didn't even know. I guess this is how it goes--either people just email me directly if they have something to say, tell it to me on the phone, or they don't post at all. No biggie. OK, nevermind, now it's not even working...whatever...
