Hello, Cleveland!

[ 2.02.2004 ]

So if any movies came to be the official films of my blocking group at school, I'd have to name American Psycho, The Big Lebowski, and Spinal Tap (if you're reading this you probably know that already...). And thanks to Psycho, Christian Bale became a legend of sorts among our crew. He's playing the title role in the next Batman movie, which is more of a throwback/origins movie that looks promising. However, that's 2005...his next movie just screened at Sundance; it's called The Machinist and he lost 60 fucking pounds, reportedly down to 117(!!!), to play the role of a factory worker who doesn't sleep for a year (just go with it, ok?). You might remember the line "You can always look thinner..." from Am Psycho, now it's come true. I looked around a while and finally found a trailer. It's long, and to be honest, the sight of Bale emaciated is pretty disturbing. Definitely worth a look though, and it's amazing to think he'll be putting all the weight back on right away to do Batman. Btw, I thought Laurel Canyon was pretty good as well.

I was very excited to hear that they're working on live action versions of both a Transformers movie as well as a GI Joe movie. Granted, the Transformers flick will be mostly CGI in terms of effects, but apparently they dont want to do an all-animated film. Those were hands down the best toys ever. I really wish I still had them. Fuck.

Speaking of American Psycho...while wasting time at work a couple months ago, Mulldoggey and I bantered via email about the hypothetical discography of our hypothetical band, if we could hypothetically play instruments (Mulldogg plays the clarinet, but a woodwind does not a rock band make). We agreed our band name would have to be "Halberstram" and our debut CD would go something like this...be forewarned, we've seen this movie way too many times...

1. You're Not Terribly Important to Me
2. Lunch with Cliff Huxtable
3. Murders and Executions
4. Feed Me a Stray Cat
5. Another Martini, Paul?
6. Videotapes
7. Speaking of Reasonable...
8. Dorsia
9. Not Quite Blonde (on Blonde)
10. Tumbling, Tumbling Dickweed
11. Stupid Bitchy
12. [No, Lewis] You're Mistaken
13. Head on a Stick
14. I Want to Fit In
15. Spin a Dreidel
16. Yale Thing
17. Bone

OK, I'll stop now.
