Some potentially great movies are in the cards for the next few months, involving a lot of the same people. First there's Anchorman, starring Will Ferrell as a chauvinist 1970s news anchor--check out the trailer on the official site as well as some great additional scenes. It's also got Paul Rudd (Wet Hot American Summer anyone?) and Steve Carell from the Daily Show. Should be awesome.


Hells yeah.

Next there's Starsky and Hutch, starring Ben Stiller and my boy Owen Wilson. It's also got Vince Vaughn, Ferrell and Snoop Dogg--directed by Todd Phillips, hence all the Old School cast members. The trailer is pretty funny, but the inititial reviews I've seen have been great, so I'm looking forward to that fo sho.

I'm not so sure how it will turn out, but I'm also hoping The Big Bounce turns out all right, which opens in a couple weeks--it stars Owen as a housesitter who falls in love with some hot thief...Morgan Freeman and Gary Sinise are in it too, so hopefully it's fucking good.

Someone pointed this out to me a month ago or so, but I don't remember who...Red maybe? Anyway, people always say they're overwhelmed or underwhelmed, but no one has ever claimed to have been simply whelmed by something. So next time something turns out just as you expected, say that it whelmed you. Please. Do it for me.

Band of the moment--Franz Ferdinand...a Scottish band named after an Austrian monarch--gotta respect that. They even have some German thrown into the end of their single, "Darts of Pleasure." Think British rock-out music with a dash of new wave put-togertherness a la Interpol. Something like that. Their debut album drops Feb 9, and I'm seeing them in Cambridge March 10. Cool.
