Hello, Cleveland!

[ 1.10.2004 ]

Despite not releasing an album in almost six years (Fat of the Land came out in 1997), The Prodigy remain one of my fave bands and FOTL remains in my list of five albums I'd take with me to a desert island. Needless to say they've dicked around for a while (read: Liam Howlett who writes everything has dicked around). But after tons of BS, the album is finally on the way. Here's a very cool and very long interview that Neko (who runs the best Prodge site on the net) did with Liam Howlett in December. Long story short:

- He "binned" basically everything he'd written through last year because he thought it was just more of the same and nothing new
- There are 10 tracks as of now, with two more likely
- The album is less about performing live than FOTL, more electronic, more about beats, and does not feature Keith Flint and/or Maxim on every song.
- Kool Keith (who rapped over "Diesel Power" on the last album) is again on this album, as is Rob of Massive Attack
- Expect a June or July release

Most awkward movie viewing of my life: renting Super Troopers with Kevin a couple summers back and then my dad refusing to leave when we commandeered his TV. The movie was still funny though, and now the Broken Lizard guys have a new one: Club Dread.

Note: I apologize in advance for actually writing any of this down. While discussing personal hygiene over dinner with Mulldoggey, Dawid, Nina and Raja, I devised a new scale of bad smells (not inspired by any of them or the food we were eating). First, there's crotch. Not a pleasant smell, but there's worse. For instance, trucker crotch could kill most small animals. And then there's the absolute worst, which needs no explanation if you take a minute to visualize what it means: hobo crotch. Guess you had to be there...

While watching Big Fish (yes, good call Carly) I couldn't help but think Billy Crudup's voice sounded familiar. Then it hit me: he's the Mastercard voice ("The smell of hobo crotch in the morning: priceless.")

I read this on IMDB about Charlize Theron's new movie: "Charlize Theron, a relatively obscure model and actress, is being deluged with praise for her performance as serial killer Aileen Wuornos in Monster." Um, what?

Added a couple more pics to the pictures page.

Raja and Nina rule.
