I was in my car the other day when I remembered the song by Meatloaf titled "Objects in the Rearview Mirror May Appear Closer Than They Are." But they don't. The curvature of car mirrors provides greater visibility by doing the opposite, hence your mirrors say "Objects in mirror may be closer than they appear." And thinking about it, I'm not sure how the title may be relevant on a metaphorical level either.
