Hello, Cleveland!

[ 8.15.2003 ]

Went car-shopping with Mikey the other day (thanks for the rides Mikey) and came back with a couple new songs: "Waiting" by The Devlins (which is older) and "White Flag" by Dido. I'd kind of forgotten about Dido, despite the fact that she's one of only four female artists/frontwomen that I like/own CDs from (the others being Aimee Mann, Garbage and Liz Phair). The new song is great, too bad I can't find a version on kazaa lite that doesnt fuck up after 25 seconds. I'm not sure I'd say it's any more mature than the stuff from No Angel; it's the same winning formula of good beats, acoustic guitar, killer hooks and beautiful vocals. But there's nothing wrong with a formulaic sound when the sound is this good...too bad it's taken her so long to get back into the swing of things.

"Waiting" is just a catchy song that's worth a download. I had a hell of a time finding it on kazaa, and when I did it was labeled as the Tom Lord-Alge remix. OK...it's apparently on the Six Feet Under soundtrack. Just a cool, mellow song-for-rainy-day type feel.

I hope to be able to reveal my final car decision by tomorrow afternoon, assuming I'm approved for credit and I go through with it (if A, then most likely B). But how about this: I've put a deposit down, and there's a car on a dealer lot that has a "sold" tag hanging from the mirror with "Madden" on it. How scary is that? I've always looked forward to the day when I can say that I am paying through my nose for a car...and that day looks close (Monday night?).
