Hello, Cleveland!

[ 8.21.2003 ]

So now I'm a working man. I can tell you that the average retail price of 1 kWh of electricity was about 8 cents last year. The largest power plant in the world is the Itaipu hydroelectric facility in Brazil, which provides 25% of Brazil's electricity and 78% of Paraguay's. It's 18 generators have a combined capacity of 12,400 megawatts, roughly the equivalent of 120 nuclear power plants. It's big. I just looked it up out of curiosity today, thinking "what's the biggest power plant in the world?" Apparently the three gorges dam in China will be about 50% bigger.

So this week I've realized that work is going to be fine. First, it won't be too time consuming. Average about 9-6...which is better than I expected. On Monday I was told 9-7 is "working hard" for us. Cool. I also think it's kind of funny to be out in the middle of nowhere. Our building is really modern, but in the middle of all this green, which I am a big fan of. Reminds me a little of Wisconsin.
