New movie that I want to see: Envy starring Ben Stiller, Jack Black, Chris Walken, Amy Poehler and Rachel Weisz. For the trailer, go here. How great is Walken's "Good for you, Good FOR you" line? Too bad we have to wait until next April to see it. Rachel Weisz looks *really* attractive here from what I've seen. Amy Poehler is great (Best SNL line: "I'm hypoglycemic, I've only got one leg, and I love to party"). All that's missing from this movie is an Owen Wilson cameo.
Speaking of which...Starsky and Hutch is also coming out next year some time, starring Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson in the title roles, but also featuring Snoop Dogg as Huggy Bear (the police snitch) as well as Vince Vaughn and Will Ferrell in a cameo as someone named "Big Earl." Who wrote the script? It's directed by Todd Phillips, who also did Old School (another Ferrell, Vaughn, and Wilson brother flick) and Road Trip. But also credited on the writing team with Phillips is Ben Garant and Tom Lennon from The State...interesting because a) I love the State and b) they're on "Reno 911," the new Comedy Central cop comedy. Why do I like absolutely everything about this film? All it needs is a Jackie Chan fight scene.
Speaking of which...next year'sAround the World in 80 Days does feature Jackie Chan fight scenes, as well as an Owen Wilson cameo...it's based on the Jules Verne classic. Arnold Schwarzenegger plays a Turkish prince, Luke Wilson also has a cameo, and Rob Schneider is in there as well. Sweet! And on August 22, The Medallion opens, which has Jackie paired with Lee Evans (the British comedian who played pizza guy Norm in There's Something About Mary, not the Wisconsin wide receiver) and Claire Forlani. It'll probably suck but I will check it out and like it.
Despite its brutal IMDB rating, I'm intrigued by Breakfast of Champions, a 1999 film version of Vonnegut's novel of the same name (which I have never read). Bruce Willis, Nick Nolte, Barbara Hershey, Omar Epps, and yes, Owen Wilson.
I saw a few minutes of an "Avril Lavigne Diary" on MTV this week, and she doesn't seem like a very nice person. Not mean necessarily, but very curt; she seems to take herself very seriously. She made a big deal about how much she loves hockey and hates losing in the pickup games her band has with other bands/record company-provided people, but if she really wanted to be on the winning team I would suggest she play herself a lot less. She sucks.
