So my new idea is to start posting good but somewhat obscure albums on the ol' blog here. Brief description with some sample songs, you can get a taste and maybe find a new band. First album I'll post is Between the Senses by Haven. Typical Brit angst/alt/poprock. Good stuff in my book: lead singer Gary Briggs has a great voice, great guitar riffs that blatantly go for that plaintive-epic feel. It all works out very well, these are very nicely crafted songs, which isn't surprising given Johnny Marr (Smiths) produced the album.
I loved this album for about three weeks and then kind of stopped listening to it (spring of last year), but I've been revisiting it more often lately. Overall the album is more wussy than badass, but that's ok. I uploaded the three best songs below...to listen, right-click, save as and change the file extension to .wma from .frog. For more, they have a pretty good website at www.haven-online.com where you can listen to new songs, check out vids, etc.
Let it Live
Say Something
Til the End

Yep, they look like certified British rock stars.
