One of the cool features of Windows Media Player is the fact that it keeps a count of how many times you listen to a song. For some reason I find this a rather compelling feature, so much so that I stopped using the more user-friendly Winamp in favor of WM. Because no one cares but me, here are the most-listened to songs as of, oh, 30 seconds ago, since last August:
417 Stay (Far Away, So Close!) / U2
389 The Scientist / Coldplay
356 Inside of Love / Nada Surf
294 It's Not / Aimee Mann
233 Treefingers / Radiohead
226 Us and Them / Pink Floyd
209 Shade and Honey / Sparklehorse
193 Fake Plastic Trees / Radiohead
185 Rush of Blood to the Head / Coldplay
172 You Look So Fine / Garbage
163 Green is the Colour / Pink Floyd
160 Jesus, etc. / Wilco
157 How to Disappear Completely (BBC Live) / Radiohead
156 No Surprises / Radiohead
Worst song in that list: Treefingers, no question. It's just a very relaxing song you can fall asleep to (instrumental), but it's nothing special. Notice all of these songs are very mellow. The highest-ranking song that actually rocks a little bit is "Hard to Explain" by The Strokes with 111. The top song, Stay (Far Away, So Close!) I've listened to for about 2000 minutes total, or the equivalent of slightly less than a day and a half straight. The most listened to per day is "It's Not" by Aimee Mann, which I've listened to 294 times since I first heard it on April 28.
I will now go get a life.
