Much love to Kate for giving me my newest band (I think). Longwave opened for the Strokes last year, although they're definitely not rip-offs of the Schtrokes; the album is The Strangest Things. Go to www.longwavetheband.com to check out the video for "Everywhere You Turn." I think I like "The Ghosts Around You" and "Tidal Wave" even more. They're a straight-up rock band (don't fuck around trying to be too punk), but seem to use more atmospherics than you'd expect (kind of like Grandaddy, if I had to make a comparison). I really like their sound, although at this point I feel like with their type of music they could easily make some unbelievably good music to my ears...right now their songs are good, but aren't knocking me completely over yet. Very much growing on me.
