I'd be remiss if I didn't mention sports briefly. Last week was arguably the best sports week ever for me...my favorite hockey team for the last nine years, the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, advanced to the Stanley Cup Finals by sweeping the Minnesota Wild 4-0, outscoring the Wild 9-1. Their run--12 wins and only 2 losses, and the first team to ever beat the #1 and #2 conference seeds in the same year--is thus far the most improbable in NHL history. Their record through three rounds (12-2) is tied for the best ever. Sweet vindication after years of being an NHL laughingstock. The reason I love the Ducks is Paul Kariya (see him below batting a puck out of midair for his second goal of game 3 vs. the Wild), so I'm really happy to see him getting rewarded after sticking with the Ducks when he could have demanded a trade.

Secondly, the San Antonio Spurs, my second favorite basketball team (used to be number one, before the Bucks started needing wins actually) beat the Lakers in six to advance to the Western Conference finals. I HATE THE LAKERS, so it was doubly sweet, especially given the thumpings the Spurs have gotten courtesy of the Lakers. This is David Robinson's last season, so it would be amazing to get him a title on the way out. Gotta love Davey--always my favorite NBA player since I started following basketball 11 years ago.
