So some of you may know that my favorite (as well as my blockmates') comedian is Louis CK. He used to write for Conan and Chris Rock (won an Emmy there), has a hilarious standup CD that you can buy on his website, been involved with some crappy movies (Pootie Tang, uh, yeah), and done some interesting work with independent film. Anyway, we saw him a year and a half ago at the comedy club here in Cambridge, which was unbelievable. My face hurt after the set. I like to laugh, and find a lot of things funny, but this was the most I'd ever laughed, and half the jokes I'd already heard before. We also got to talk to him after the show for a moment, although our plan to ask him to smoke with us after the show went awry and it just seemed like Dilip was hitting on him (I had promised I'd actually smoke if they could get Louie to). So it goes...he's a great guy and I think he realized our appreciation.

Louie, Jim
The last few months I've come to become a big fan of Jim Gaffigan, who you've probably seen in commercials (Saturn, Rolling Rock, ESPN, blah blah) or being a random guy on tv shows. He was on Conan a lot it seemed, always with fresh, funny stuff, so I looked into it a little further. I downloaded his comedy central standup deal online and it's pretty fucking hilarious. I haven't bought his standup cd (note, I only own one standup cd--Louie's), but I may get around to it sometime. Anyway, if you're bored check out his website jimgaffigan.com...I especially liked part of the Saturn commercial outtakes. There are a ton of video clips, many of which suck, but it's worth checking out the ones of his standup. Plus, he's going to be performing at "Giggles Germantown" July 10-12, so I'll definitely be checking that out while I'm home. He's a pretty legit standup so I have no idea what he's doing in Germantown, but...whatever.
