Saw Donnie Darko last weekend and it was a very pleasant surprise...very offbeat, a headscratcher that eventually makes sense (for the most part at least). Jake Gyllenhaal stars and is really good. Favorite scene in the movie: he moves to kiss his girlfriend in this wooded area, and then she totally denies him. He asks why, and she says (something to the effect of) "It has to just happen. And that fat guy over there is watching us." (pan to random fat guy smoking next to a tree, wearing an orange tracksuit)

So random, I love it. That's not exactly what the film is like in general, it's pretty dark and strange but some great black comedy interspersed as well. Anyway, it has an 8.3 rating on IMDB--surprisingly the #88 movie in their all-time top 250.
